I would like to talk about the Lunar New Year festival, also known as the Tet holiday, which is the occasion expected the most by Vietnamese people every year. The festival usually lasts for around 3-4 days, và it takes place when a new year comes according to lớn the lunar calendar.

– The Lunar New Year festival takes place because it is one of the most well-known traditions of Vietnam. Our people have been celebrating this occasion for thousands of years, and although there has been some recent argument about whether we should stop celebrating this festival, I vì not think this activity will come to lớn an kết thúc soon, at least not in the short term.

– There are some common things that people do during this festival. Perhaps the most important thing is that people who work và study in big cities would go back to their hometown lớn celebrate the new year with their families & relatives. The new year festival is one of very few occasions that families can gather together, so it is easy lớn understand why everyone in Vietnam expects this festival so much. Another thing that we usually bởi is that we give children some “lucky money” with the hope that it will bring fortune to those kids. We also have some other activities such as making “chung” cake, visiting temples & pagodas… & so on.

– The new year festival is so important to lớn me & also khổng lồ all Vietnamese citizens. The reason is because we get more days off from work và study, & therefore we have more time lớn spend with our families và our loved ones. It is also a great time lớn think about what we have done in the previous year, và to make plans for the upcoming year.

I went back lớn my hometown after completing the first semester of that year & it took me three hours to get back my house by bus. During these days off, My family và i visited my paternal grand parent and maternal grand parents. I really liked having fun with my cousins. We hold a dinner at the end of the year for the family reunion. People were very happy and shared each other about the work & problems which they experienced. In the early days of the new year we visited the neighbors and i hanged out with my friend & saw firework. In conclusion, i was so happy with my family so Tet holiday is a truly wonderful holiday for me.

Taking about food in Tet holiday, we cannot but mention to lớn “bánh trưng” & “bánh dầy” in the northern part in Vietnam and “bánh tét” in the southern part. Traditionally, those are the kind of cake made of sticky rice, green peas and pork, all of which are wrapped by banana leaves or Dong leaves. Besides, there are so many kind of traditional food such as “mứt”- which means dried candied fruits, as well “hạt dưa” – roasted watermelon seeds và so on.

Vietnamese people usually decorate luxuriously their house at Tet, they believe that brings them more happiness and money in new year. Cherry blossom flower or apricot flower are liked khổng lồ be decorated in house because its flowers symbolize the prosperity and healthy that the family hopes for in the coming year.

To everyone of Vietnam, Tet is a sacred & meaningful occasion in their heart & mind. It is not only the chance for Vietnamese to direct toward original point and express deference lớn their ancestors, but also this is a opportunity for family members to come back together after a year full of exhausting & strenuous business.
